It's a matter of taste.

When I look at it, the styling of the center mounted exhaust on the 2010 Jeep SRT 8 is just a wonderful decision, different from the current style. Maybe it reminds me of a simpler style, or a European style that American companies don't typically take.

On the 2004 Pontiac GTO, the exhaust was a true, fully dual exhaust, but it's exhaust tips were mounted to one side (changed in 2005). Why? Not sure, but then again the GTO actually comes from Australia, from the Holden Monaro, and Holden's tend to take more of a European design queue.

Am I just too partial to European design? Maybe. But the fact that Jeep chose this design for their exhaust is just, different.

Not only is this a unique design choice but it allows the exhaust to take on a visual of its own, one that allows the vehicle to start in the front with a beautiful style, slide down the back and finish that queue, like a story. It's a big irritation when I see style start strong and for whatever reason, never finish, it's not properly followed through.

European, American aside, it's just a beautiful choice, a choice that maybe could not have been done the other way, opposite side mounted. Uh but I could be totally wrong on this, it's just an opinion on why I like it.
